Third time's a charm

Third time's a charm

I love the hands-on experience of trial and error...and once you finally get something you've tried a few times... it feels awesome! :)

I wanted to take the opportunity to play around with Shopify and try out some of the tools I continue to discover with each login. Some functions have been straight forward, like changing design, but then there are the more challenging functions one may need to look up in the support center along the way.

Admittedly so, it was 'third time's a charm' when I attempted not once, but three times to import my customers from the template provided by Shopify. I first had to download OpenOffice to be able to save the CSV as UFT-8. I followed the instructions and just like that, the file was generated. But when I tried to import, the email I received from Shopify confirmed that the address province was not valid. I had spelled out the states rather than use the ISO code for the correct formatting. It took me two attempts to realize what I had to fix ( duh!?) I made the necessary changes to my customer template and tried the upload again. Then another email came... "Shopify successfully completed your customer import."

It may have taken a few extra goes, but at least I picked up a few new things about UFT-8 along the way. Take that, Chuck Norris!
